Lightest 4x10?

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently run a GK 410MBX I've had a while... Well, I'm my own roadie that's getting older all the time. The MBX weighs nearly 75 lbs. 50 is much more workable...

Anybody know of any? I'm thinking an MBE410, but as they're designed as a complement for the MB series heads/ combos, I wonder if the 700RB, a much different head, will tax it.

I don't run more than 500 watts through a 410, as it seems like that's the max most 410 cabs want; so the power rating doesn't have to be through the roof.

Any sugesstions?

The lightest 410 I know of is the SWR Golite. Haven't heard one before but it's 56lbs about SWR isn't exactly know for crappy products.

75 lbs isn't actually too bad for a 4x10. I've had one that weighed over 100. Have you considered maybe using a pair of 2x10's instead? Much easier to move around.

Okay this isn't exactly what you asked for but I can't resist: There's a British company called Barefaced, brainchild of TalkBasser Alex Claber, and he's got an alternative to the traditional 410 cabinet that seriously deserves a look. And you're not going to believe the weight:

Barefaced Bass - Super Twelve

Not cheap, but your roadie will thank you.

I have the Golight. Great cab. Sounds just like a Goliath; I have two of those, gathering dust. Super easy to lift into and out of my hatchback car, where the Goliaths are a real pain. Stairs, whatever- no problem.

I bought one right when they came out, and I would agree with the above. When people ask me if I need help back out to the car after a gig I always turn them down. I simply don't need the help.

The AE410 is 62 pounds. Not the lightest, but it's got the sound.

GK 410MBE is the only one i've seen under 50 lbs.....41 or so I think ? rated to handle 800w, I would think 500w would work well

I use the 212MBE, and like it very much

I just got a GK Neo 410. Sounds awesome and pretty light.

I got rid of my 410RBH for the same reason. Just too heavy. Plus, it was plum tuckered out.

Markbass has a couple of 4X10's. Rear ported model is about 55 lbs. with the front ported model weighing in at about 60-65 lbs. With the markbass amps they sound greater than great.

The Schroeder 410 Light. It's not cheap, and is very mid focused, but it weighs in at 51 lbs and is good for 1200watts at 4 ohms.
