Lightweight Bass Head Recommendation

Hello all,
I'm looking for something powerful/lightweight and that can run max power with only one cab. My price range is around $500.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Used. Genz Benz makes a bunch that fit your criteria. You would need a 4 ohm cab if running only one.

Shuttle or streamliner depending on taste. Excellent products with great support, I recommend without hesitation.

+1 for the Genz-Benz line. I just got a Streamliner 900 to replace a shuttle 6.0. That one is for sale for $400. You can't go wrong with Genz-Benz.

Hartke LH1000 is 700 watts with an 8 ohm single cab in bridged mode. $499 new and about 20lbs.

There are a lot of lightweight heads that run 500 watts from different companies... is there a specific sound or "standard" head that you prefer?

Outside of what I already mentioned, versatility is definitely key for me. Playing everything from Top 40, Funk, Rock in a cover band and like to "try" to play Jazz @ home.

Also, do any u recommend come with a built in compressor?

Carvin BX1500 or BX500, they both have compressors and the BX1500 has 3 semi-parametric eq while the BX500 has 2. Both have a graphic eq section on top of that. Versatility they are.

Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 amps are available used and they are fantastic. At an incredible 3.75 pounds (yes...under 4 pounds), they put out 375W peak into 8 ohms, 600W peak into 4 ohms.

LOVE my Shuttle 6.0. Fantastic amp!

Look for a deal on a Genz-Benz! I picked up a new one for about $600 a while back. I am still scratching my head as to how this thing can sound so great, weigh so little, and not break.

I own both the Walkabout and the GB Shuttle 6.0. While I like the Walkabout more, you can't really go wrong with either. You might be able to find a Walkabout for that used. The GB you can find in your range all day long no problem.

Used TC Electronics RH450, if you like the Ampeg SVT tube tone and feel.

Used Eden WT550 or WT400 if you prefer a more uncolored sound...

Can't go wrong with any of the feather-weight amps listed in this thread though. Best to let your ears decide.

Genz all the way. From what I have read the LMks and the TCs and the GKs and the Aggies are all good too but I have owned 3 GB heads and were all great.
