Lil' Racks

This is as small as I go for a backup to the tube amps. All stuffed into a shallow rack case, about 25 pounds.

Ampeg SVP-PRO
Korg DTR-1000
Crown XLS1500

4 spaces is the way to go

Top to Bottom:
Presonus Studio Channel
BBE DS24
PLX1804

Also about 25lbs in a shallow rack, definitely not more than 30

OK, here's the point...... It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's a 10.5" deep rack case with the new Crown light power amp which weighs 8.5 lbs. and can power 4 810 cabs (Not that I use 4 810's.) Not only is it smaller than the previous backup in a full size rack, it dropped almost 40 lbs.

Why do I want a 25 lb. rack when I'm hauling a 140 lb. cab? It's a backup rack.

I've been thinking of one of those racks, my amp is 10.5 deep not including rear switches and stuff. Do think it would fit ? I may raise the amp a little and dremel the rear opening to make it fit. Like if an amp was 12inches deep would I have to remove much material to get it through the back, if that helps explain it any better.

Maybe I need to take a look at refreshing my gear. My 3U of QSC PLX2 1804 and Ampeg SVP CL in a Protec bag weighs 36 lbs as per my bathroom scale. You have 1U more height and 10 lbs less weight- cool!

I'm using a six-space rack at the moment, but two spaces are empty, and one is just a power conditioner. I could easily shave it down to three spaces, or even two if I wanted to run my Peavey IPR 1600 off of my VT pedal rather than my Ashly preamp.

What do you drive the girl in your avatar with? Is she 8 or 4 ohms? Finally, is she for sale?
