does anyone use this? im looking at buying one but no stores around here carry them. i used to have a pod when they first came out and liked it a lot but that was over ten years ago. the thing that i find really intriquing is the dual inputs and signal chains. this way i can use the ricosound on my 4001 to run a bass amp and distorted guitar rig at the same time all in one piece of equipment. my other ideas are to use amplitube 3 or to just go basic and get an rh450. any thoughts or personal experience will be appreciated.

I very seriously considered the X3 Pro last year.

I had the cash ready to go, but then I found this instead and have not looked back since.

Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro

I go into detail on my thread as why I find this to be the better solution for me, but I invite you to read through it all and then form your own opinion.

Cheers!

Edit: Here is one place where I discuss the X3 Pro specifically --> Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro

I've used the X3 in the studio. I like it. It's versatile. I use a regular PodXT for my home recording too

Yes, I use it for my main bass and guitar rig.

IMO, the dual channel is an absolute necessity for getting decent sounds out of it. I tried earlier Line6 models and always felt I was listening to a recording of the bass as opposed to playing live.

Blending both channels allows for better tweaking and seems to give the signal a bit more depth.

Agreed!

For recording, studio work, or for FOH live sound, the blending of your amp's signal with a signal untouched from your bass pickups provides excellent results.

To be fair, I can achieve the same result however with any other single-rig-only modeling preamp, a DI box, and a mixer.

I love, own + use Line 6's X3 technology myself, but I could not justify the $699 price for the Pro unit for bass use only. For guitarists, it's a whole other story.

And an even better reason to hold off on the X3 now is that it's due to be replaced this month by Line 6's new HD line of modelers!

The X3 Pro made sense for me since I double on bass and guitar. Getting the X3 Pro allowed me to merge my bass and guitar rigs in to one rack unit. Easier to maintain, less expensive and much less to haul!

Absolutely, I agree 100%!

The X3 products are much better suited for guitarists, but bass players have lots in there to be excited about as well.

I can't wait to see the new Line 6 HD Pro unit and I hope they really deliver for bass players this time!

Got any specifics on the new HD line? I've seen precious little info other than reports there are only 16 amp models.

No more specifics than you have, but the HD line is coming this month and I'm signed up at Line 6 for details as they arrive.

My hope is that they create a 2-space PRO unit, that caters more to bass players this time, improve the models, restore bi-amping capabilities, improve the "live modes" sans influence of the cab sims, fix the annoying knobs that don't sync to the patch values, and price it accordingly (see my thread link above for details behind all my grievances) ... We'll see!

The HD floor units up on their website now have a short list of guitar-only amp models, no mention of bass. Maybe they're going to split the PODs back out to bass & guitar after combining them in the X3?
