list of amps that have easily switched power 220/240 - 115/120

Sign in to disble this ad
So, other than some of the Eden amps and the Phil Jones stuff, can anyone here help me make a list of amps that are equipped with a simple voltage switch to go from US voltage 115/120 to Euro voltage 220/240 ?

I'll start

Eden
Phil Jones
and .......

Ampeg SVT-8PRO...... You do nothing but find a plug that fits the wall. Universal input. Ditto for the little Crate and Ampeg class-D combos and head (not Porta-Bass). There are others, also.

Little Giant 1000 by Ashdown super cheap at Thomann in Germany. I know you are not a simple lightweight solid state head kinda guy though.

ha! no, I am not, and I am going to get a US Walkabout converted to euro voltage (220-240) for my upcoming 2 year sojourn to Europe. But in the process of looking at amps that would work anywhere, I thought I'd ask, and I am not disappointed !

So the list of amps with easily switchable voltage reads:
(in no particular order)
  • Eden (not sure that all models are capable)
  • Phil Jones
  • Orange
  • Euphonic Audio Micro550
  • Walter Woods
  • Ashdown Little Giant 1000
  • Ampeg SVT-8PRO (and some other ampeg units)
  • Genz Benz (all models according to agedhorse, who should know )
  • Acoutic Image

any others you want to add ?

TC Electronics heads switch automatically, too, maybe something to look at with your tonal preferences.

Ampeg B3 / B328 / B3158 combos are kinda plug and play, you just need to replace the fuse.

Manual says:
*FOR 100-120VAC, 50/60Hz: T5A, 250V
*FOR 220-240VAC, 50/60Hz: T2.5A, 250V

the list grows daily!

thanks for all the input on this topic.

The current list of amps that have switchable voltage
  • Eden (not sure that all models are capable)
  • Phil Jones
  • Orange
  • Euphonic Audio Micro550
  • Walter Woods
  • Ashdown Little Giant 1000
  • Ampeg SVT-8PRO (and some other ampeg units)
  • Genz Benz (all models according to agedhorse, who should know )
  • Acoustic Image
  • TecAmp Puma series
  • TC Electronic
  • Hartke LH500 and LH1000 (possibly other Hartke models too)
  • Fender Bassman export series (thats kind of cheatin')

I'm going to hold of on listing the Ampeg combos that giacomini provided until its clear they work like that.

Keep 'em coming !

My bad, look what it says under the AC socket:

"check you user manual for the correct voltage"

And just below that a sticker that says:

"230v"

I failed.
