a little better then a practice amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I am a new bass player. I currently have a MusicMan sub4 with a small Behringer practice bass amp. I just feel my amp doesnt give me a rich bass sound..although reviews on this amp are good I just don't know if my expectation are to high or just havent developed a good hear yet.

I was thinking of buy a slightly better amp but I didnt want to break the bank..any recommendations and also could it be that I don't have my current amp configured correctly or something? Sorry for the newbie questions

Best to go out and play through anything that's available to you, and buy based on what you hear. It really does come down to nothing more than personal preference, and they all sound different. I will say, almost ANYTHING will sound better than what you have now.

I ordered a new Peavey Tour TNT 115 from Guitar Center for $399 on sale with a coupon. Should be here later today. I was practicing through my studio monitors with GuitarRig4 and a Bass POD XT Live, but I wanted something real so I could gig.

That is a pretty good amp that is only a little more expensive than the behringer combos.

With that budget you can get a number of decent sounding combo amps. Peavey, Ampeg, Gallien-Krueger, Fender.. all make a 15" combo within that price range. If you shop used, you could do even better.

Don't be afraid to shop used. 400 bucks will go a LONG way in the used market. Check Craigslist, and Guitar Center's Used Gear section on their website. My understanding is that they'll ship used gear from any GC to your house, or the nearest GC, for free, AND honor their 30 day return policy.

As for brands, well, you came to the right place for information lol.
