Probably cost more to fix than to get a used one since everything is built on the board. The wonderful world of throw away electronics, these Micro amps are like DVD players.

It's a machine - anything can happen. However, it is worth looking into - it could be something very simple.

Very true. Could be as simple as the effects loop needing cleaning or a wire that came unsoldered. Or it could be a $400 motherboard.

I tried a 2x10" Mark Bass combo when they first came to the States. Sound check was fine, the FIRST NOTE of the show, the amp blew, little wisp of smoke comes out of the head, unbelievable. It was free and I sent it back, said no thanks.

Did you check the fuse? Markbass heads have fuses and it even comes with an xtra. Check there first.

See this is what worries me about buying another LM3. I know if a Genz amp goes wrong, they will sort it...

I also have 2 MKII for about 5 years and never had an issue...

With that being said anything electrical can run into an issue at anytime...period.

Also what do you mean by fried?

Did it smoke or something blow?

In a lot of cases its not a big a deal to repair these guys (it all depends on what exactly happened) I fixed a Marshall GTR head for a friend that He picked up as damaged goods for $100. All it needed was tubes and new contacts to the transformer.

I would get it looked at before doing anything.

The only issue I have ever seen and issue with a MKII myself is when someone tried to put to two 4 ohm cabs into one which brought it down to 2 ohms. It was loud and worked for about 30 seconds. The player unplugged everything, when back to just 1 4 ohm cab, waited a minute and then everything ran fine once again.

The MKII have a shutdown I believe if the load is lower then 4 ohms...(I could be mistaken but I think that is the case...) so if that is true, it did exactly what it was supposed to.

Good Luck

But all tube amps are far more troublesome ;-)
No issues with my LMII either.

Me too. Bought one of the early LMII's that hit the US and it's been problem free.

Any more details than "fried" The fuse suggestion would be the first place i'd look . . .

Had a really odd issue w/ my LMII cutting out but it only happened a few times a while back, and it's been great ever since. my minimark has taken quite a toll and has never once complained . . . nothing is perfect, poop happens - it seems it's the exception w/ MB stuff
