Little Mark Tube 800 vs F-1

Does anyone know if these two amps are both Class D? Also, apart from the tube in the preamp of the LM 800, how do these amps differ in terms of overall tone and feel? It seems like the F-1 has some great reviews on this board , but I have not found a comparison between the two amps.

They are both class D amps but sound VERY different. The LM800 has a deep, wide low end, a bit of a hole in the lower mids, an extremely aggressive upper mid response, and a somewhat hi fi top end.

The F1 (and the more fully featured F500) are tighter, warmer, punchier and more even.

I greatly prefer the F1 or F500 voicing, and never noticed the SD800 or LMT800 being meaningfully louder when I owned them.

Many totally dig the 800 series. They were a bit too wide and 'harsh' for my personal taste. The sound GREAT with a more old school sealed cab (like the Berg NV610), which ends to soften the edges (high and low) to my ear. With a more 'modern' cab, the F1/F500 just work for me.

Anyway, to specifically answer your question, the LM800 is in no way a 'highe powered F1'.... quite different amp.

Thanks. Do you still have your Audio Kinesis 112? They still make them? I have a Berg AE112-How do they compare?

In all of my gear experiences, I've rarely had a more cut and dry opinion about two amps.

The F1 is one of my favorite amps. The LM tube800 is one of my least favourite amps. I think Kjung was being kind in his review of the LM tube800. Its mushy and loose on the low end, and sounds thin up top.

If the F1 had a little more lows and headroom, I'd marry it.
If you have a choice, I recommend the F1.

Yes. The Audiokinesis takes more power to get up to volume, but has much more real low end, a more even tone profile (for better or worse... very smooth transition from the mids to upper mids to treble) and is capable of WAY more absolute volume. A single TC112 will approach the output of 2 x AE112.

Both great cabs, but about as different as two 12's could be. One is tight, a bit grindy, punchy and a bit aggressive, the other is like playing out of a big fat studio monitor.
