littlemarkII + ABM 115 !!??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Folks!
I'm searching a new cab for my amp.
I've found the sound I love at my last live contest in my area.
On the stage I found an old small 1x15'' combo by Montarbo (tweeter less)... the sound came out was the nearest to my ideal for my band..

when I plugged in the sound came out was so bright and edgy that I equalized very heavy with mid lows at 3 and lows at 3!!! Very strange!!!... the combo must have been modifyed during the years a 1x15'' cant sound so edgy brightly out from the factory!!??...

That night the audio engineer recorded our small set, so I have that songs recorded in order to show you guys the sound I'm searching for, you can hear the live songs from my band's myspace http://www.myspace.com/atomikclocks
From the moment I want to keep my amp little markII I'm thinking to get a 1x15'' cab, better if not expensive becouse I'll leave it in the local rehersal room... I'm watching at:
Ashdown ABM 115 (standard) http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=15
or
Ashdown ABM 115 COMPACT http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=12

what do you think?
Only a 1x15'' alone and without tweeter could be a too edge-minimal setup?
Could be near to my sound on the above recording?

The sound you heard from the 15 you recorded with has more to do with the cabinets tuning and design than it does the fact it's a 15" spkr. One 1x15 will not sound like another 1x15. The only way to find "your sound" is by using "your ears". Good luck.

thx!
ABM 115 compact seems to be my only choice, the only one cheap and good 1x15'' with healing power of 300w...

Remember that a LMII will not deliver its full power into a single 8Ω cabinet. I've also heard something about the limiter not liking 8Ω loads. Never having played trough one I have no actual experience with the amp.

Hi Paul, yes I know, from the moment we are a trio (bass, drum, sax and without guit) I was thinking that 300w could be enough... I've used the amp with a 4ohm ATS 2x10 cab and the volume was incredible many times greater to what I need... always master at hour 9 maximum 10 but not more.
I like the idea to use the cab in a more stretch way just like the montarbo combo 1x15'' from where I got the nearest to my needs sound =)
