hi, im a guitar player who got inspired to play bass when i heard tim commerford play. i need a live rig loud enough to play some RATM and other heavy rock- metal music.my budget is $1000. i was thinking a bugera bvp 550 watt head with 2 fender rumble 4 10 cabs. please i need help i dont quite understand whats loud enough. if you have a different rig in mind let me know.
ps. i play a 5 string bass with and active 2 band eq. Cruzer CX150/N. i paid 150 because they messed up at the factory and it says ashland instead of cruzer. |

If you want a head with a tube pre-amp there are better ones out there. I wouldn't buy a Bugera. Those cabs are probably ok, but have you consider other brands? GK? Avatar?
If I was on a budget I'd get the better brands and hold off on the second cab for a while rather than buy a whole rig of just so-so stuff. Or go used. Used is definitely a good option. |

One reason I like to use a VT Deluxe with my tube Ampegs is to get heavier distortion at SPL's that won't get me asked to leave the stage. Tim Commerford may be able to get away with using three SVT/810's and running 6 mic and DI lines to the PA but I can't.
Mel, you're on the right track with wanting a big cab rig. But definitely think about another rig. The head is a knockoff of the Ampeg SVT 3 Pro, only not as good. And budget cabs almost always don't sound so hot and have very bad resale value. If you skimp on anything, don't skimp on the cabs. If you can only start with one 410, that's OK. They get quite loud, too, and later on you can add another.
