LMii high hissing after 4 yrs...

Sign in to disble this ad
Before calling GC or authorized MBass repair/shops thought I'd initially ask the first hand players! This has been my main and only head for the past 4 years and on this past Saturday's gig I noticed a pretty apparent annoyingly loud hissing noise when the HIGH is set at 12 o'clock. The hissing sound gets softer as I turn it down but at Noon, the sound is unbearable... Had rehearsal last night and sure enough the hissing was in full effect. Thoughts? Suggestions? This is my first problem ever for this head. It's been through a lot but well taken care of. It's been a workhorse and wondering if it's beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Could it be an issue with your cab? Tweeter maybe?

I did check that (running it through a pair of Berg AE112's) and both cabs have the tweeter set on flat... Gonna mess with entire rig now and see what's up. Much thanks for the feedback. Gotta tell ya, I suck at technical trouble shooting stuff... Wish me luck

Tweeters only "hiss" when the amp sends hiss to them. You seem to have a problem showing up with the amp (don't blame a speaker for doing its job ).

Gotcha, ya it really sounds like it's the head and not the cabs. Noise occurs when stacked and last night when I only used one of the cabs for rehearsal... May need someone to take a look at it, thx!

You may get lucky and it could be a interconnect cable that is faulty!
