LMIII Effect Loop question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, just a quick question regarding the effect loop in my LMIII.

Maybe I'm just confused of what the actual purpose of the effect loop is for, but I tried to run my Aphex Bass Xciter through the effect loop in the back as opposed to running it Bass --> Aphex ---> LMIII. When run through the effect loop, I can barely even notice when the pedal is engaged or not (compared to when it is run bass-->pedal-->amp, where I can clearly tell when the pedal is on).

Any idea what is goin on with this? Am I missing the entire purpose of the effect loop function on the amp?

Cheers

I would think you'd want your exciter pedal in-line between your ax and amp. Exciter pedals are generally tone suckers unless your rig is sub par. However, certain effects work better after the preamp than others, which is what the effects loop is for.

Effects loops are designed for using LINE LEVEL gear (rackmount), not INSTRUMENT LEVEL signals such as pedals.
