Looking for Ampeg BT-15 (Portaflex) info

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up a BT-15 solid state head pretty cheap off of eBay. Would anyone happen to have a schematic and/or service information they would be willing to share?

Thanks!

i have one of these amps, had an issue, so i called LOUD...(ampeg) they searched and searched, and couldnt find any history of having produced it...lol
i called again just to make sure i wasnt talking to someone that didnt know anything and got the same results. i also never found any schematics on the interwebs. the lid should have a block diagram printed on it.
do you need to know anything specific..because i have fixed mine a couple times.

LOUD never produced it, it was probably produced by Unimusic when they owned Ampeg in the late 60's.

Unimusic didn't own Ampeg until the 1970s (if I'm not mistaken)...and the BT-15 was long gone by then.

Revision - Duh!!! I was thinking of MTI....I feel like an idiot.

Yeah, you're wrong. Selmer-Musicvox owned Ampeg through most of the 70's. Unimusic had them from '67-'71.

unimusic bought ampeg in 67. loud's record keeping under the idiot jaime engen, however, was to throw a whole bunch of historic documents away, so i'm not surprised they were no help.

i'd contact gregg from the ampeg book, mark. i'll bet he has a schematic.

Try http://www.musicparts.com/products.asp?Company=Ampeg They claim to have a schematic.

all i was really getting at is that loud owns them now, and they are capable of supplying schematics for other older gear...you can find some of them on the website..
if the amp says ampeg..who else would you call, besides ampeg? especially if the other companies are gone. just the same, i have searched high and low for that same schematic, and have had no luck.
I am lucky to have a grandpa that is a retired EE, so when my amps break, if i cant figure them out, he can.

Send me a PM with an email address, I have the schematic in an old amp book, so I scanned and PDF'd it. It's not the greatest (small, half a page) but may be of some use.

Edit - actually it's pretty good quality. Zooms in well. Like I said, send over an email address and I'll send it your way.

No, I don't have anything specific that I'm looking for at the moment. I just feel better having something in hand to reference if I ever do need it.

I have one. I'm pretty sure the schematic is glued inside the head. I can copy it for you.

Amp Schematic

If other sources don't pan out you might try to find Jesse Oliver. He lives out on Long Island somewhere. I was able to locate him a couple of years ago when my B-15N needed some work. He's a really nice guy, but I'm not sure when he left ampeg.

I'm sure Jess had the info at some time. Unfortunately he had to retire last December and he sold his business. From the last few emails I've gotten from him I get the impression all his info went with the business.
