Looking to buy first amp/cab - Help?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently saving to get me an amp/cab, and a good one. I want a strong, tight, punching bass sound - that's the best way I know how to describe it. I've been looking into different name brands, and at bassists I like. Tim Foreman is at the top of my list, and he plays GK (Did play Ampeg in the earlier years), and I haven't really heard negative feedback of GK stuff.

All this aside, can yall help me out? I'm looking to spend between $2000 and $3000, because one thing I've learned is you get what you pay for. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm using the GK 1001RB-II and Laney NX410 cabs. I woulda rather be playing through GK RBH 410s, but the Laney was the most I could afford. Still sounds brilliant and I will be using this set up for a while I think. The head and 1 cab cost me around £1000. Not sure how much that is in $$$$. I do have a 2nd cab, but shhh. I didn't pay for it. ;] So that set up is about £1500. I would guess that is close to £2000. So you could go for some better quality cabs like the SWR mentioned above. I'd recommend 2 GK RBH 410s.
