Looking for Cab Loading Rails

Sign in to disble this ad
Not sure if this is the correct forum to post in, but the title says materials so...

Yeah, anyway, I'm refinishing a beat up old Fender BXR Spectrum cab that I got used for super cheap. Ripped up tolex, torn grill cloth, rip in the 18 inch speaker, but all in all I got it for a steal.

I finished refinishing the amp head that i'm pairing with this beast of a cab, and already have the tolex and grill cloth for the rest of the project. However, after getting the speaker repaired, I have gigged with this cab a few times and thought of a few enhancements it could use.

The main one is that the cab is virtually impossible to load/unload without sliding it around on the tolex. This just makes the current rips worse, and make me nervous about the fate of the cab after it's been refinished.

I'm looking for parts from an Ampeg fridge, or similar cab. Those loading rails on the back would be a perfect addition after I put the new tolex on. I've been looking around on the web, but can't find a dealer of those rails anywhere.

tips?

Thanks TB.

Harder to find these days, but skateboard grab rails work great. On my last huge cab (now gone, thankfully) I ordered strips of black Delrin from McMaster Carr. Worked great.

Parts Express is where I get things like this. Have you tried them?
