Looking for a good amp tech in Northern Virginia

I'm going to put one of my tube amps for sale and I want a tech to go over it before I do. Could somebody please recommend a good tech in Northern Virginia?

I used to use Protech in Silver Spring, but I'm never going there again. The skill level of techs they have there has gone down the toilet.

also check with Jive1, he's one of the mods here and runs retail on high end bass stuff in the DC/Virginia area.

He's in Maryland, if I remember correctly, but I'll hit him up and see if he knows anyone local. I'm trying to avoid the four hour round trip that is the beltway if I can.

While Jive is a nice guy, he's far from a tech.

Only thing I can offer is Prototypes in Kensington.
Not close but good and trust worthy.

That would be my recommendation too. I've used them a couple of times and couldn't have been happier with the results. The principles there have a ton of experience.

I don't know of anything reputable in NOVA.

The guy at Viking amps hasn't been returning my calls. I found someone who seems like a great tech down near UVA, but they have a 2 month wait and a $45 charge to expedite the repair.

I just missed Prototypes today, but I'll hit them up tomorrow and see what their turn around time is.

I found a recommendation for him on a Marshall forum. Since he used to be a senior tech at Marshall, I thought he would be a good guy to see about having my Marshall gone over. I'm not real excited about waiting 2 months or paying a premium for expedited service when I just want to get a check up done before I sell it.
