Looking for a good smaller head for an SWR golight 410 4 ohm cab

Hi all,

I like the lightweight and wattage of this cab. Can anyone recommend a good head for this cab? I was digging the GB Shuttle 9.0 reviews - will a 900w head be ok with this 800w 4 ohm cab?

I'd also be interested in the compact heads like little mark's etc in the 600w-800w range.

Any recommendations will be great.

Don't expect the cab to take a full 800 watts cleanly without farting or damage. With that said you have the ears and the master volume controls to avoid doing that.
GenzBenz, MarkBass, G-K MB500 or MB Fusion, Ampeg PF500. Find the one you like the sound of. Lots of light weight powerful amp heads out there these days!

What would be a good wattage range in a head if the cab is 4 ohm, 800w?

It doesn't matter much- but I'd suggest 300-500 watts as a base point.

The headlite bass head looks cool - think this 400w head would go good with the golight 4 ohm cabinet?

I'm using a Carvin bx500 with a Goliath and love it. 500 watts, five lbs.
