Looking for a head for a Marshall VBC412

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently found a good deal on a Marshall VBC412 cab, and on a whim i bought it. Now i need to find a head to go with it. Ive been looking into the Orange bass terror, but since the cab is 400 watts at 4 ohms, and the head runs at 500 watts, i'm not sure thats the best idea. If anyone could help me find a suitable head that would make a good match for the cab, it would be much appreciated. My playing style varies, but I'd like an amp that gives off a little dirt, but can also achieve a reasonably clean sound. I'd like to keep it under $700 Canadian.

Thanks!

Any amp you like will work fine, including the Orange terror bass. The cabs rating has little/nothing to do with how much power it will take in real life, just watch that you don't push too much low end and listen for straining- otherwise, you're good to go.

Nothing wrong with running a high power head into a mid power cab. If your cab begins farting out, turn it down! Using common sense is the easiest way to prevent speaker damage.
