Looking for a smaller amp that's able to stay in the mix.

My fellow bassmen,

I've been looking around for a portable combo, one that I would be using at smaller jams, and possibly a gig or two down the line. I've been playing in a group with two guitarists and a drummer, and the problem that I've been having with the keyboard amp I've been using is that I often feel I'm completely lost in the mix, especially when we're all going crazy and making a lot of noise. I've been looking at the Carvin MicroBass series, they seem to be of very good quality especially for the price ($320-$500). Also, I was looking at the AB50 from Acoustic, which I can't find much info on, but it would be nice to only be spending $200. In terms of price the Carvin MB12 at $500 is the absolute highest I'm willing to go, and I would really like it to be less than that. Suggestions?

Unfortunately, I tried a Mesa WB Scout years ago at a Guitar Center and was REALLY ticked off as I knew I had to buy it. Swr 2X10 wasnt bad, Peavy BAM wasnt bad, but pure tubes. ahhh...... but it was double the other combos I was looking at.

I use a Fender rumble 30 at smaller quieter gigs and never have a problem and if i need use PA support. For larger shows I use a fender 250/210 bassman 250 watts thru 210s and its plenty indoors and out since I have PA support at larger gigs.

everyone will now list their favorites and i'm no different

if you're on a budget and really need to spend as little as possible, an ampeg ba115...very versatile and strong sounding amp for the money. if you can swing the whole $500 before the end of the year (rebate offer), the micro vr stack is imho the combo to get. weighs less than 40 lbs, expandable, looks and sounds like a mini svt. i'm biased toward ampeg sounds, of course. but even their low end products totally nail what i like about ampeg and i don't get that sound in anything else in that price range except ampeg.

Just want to point out that the Peavey BAM weighs 95 lbs. It's an amazingly versatile and powerful amp but unbelievably heavy. Also, they are rare so price is going up with time.
