I need a smaller cab than my standard 810 for some one-offs on the road and weekends. I want something that is full sounding like an 810, is legit looking, and can do 2 or 4 ohms. I'd also like something as wide as my SVT so that it can sit on top. My initial thought was a 410hlf, but I'm looking for some more options.
Thoughts?
Jimmy or Johnk?

Jimmy or Johnk? | Given the details you've provided, it kind of sounds like you already have your answer.
I would stick with the 410hlf. Great tone and looks great with the SVT. I've heard a lot of great things about the heritage cabs as well. Good luck. |

Also might be worth looking into a berg NV610, they're supposed to sound great with an SVT. I had never realized how small those things were until recently, a guy I share a practice space with has one and man is it small. |

Just stack them sideways and the head "should" line up well on top (although I dont have an SVT to try it). I really enjoy mine.
My 410HLF sounded good, but didn't sound like an 8x10 is voiced. I would at least go in and take a listen to a pair with your amp/bass...

Wes | +1 on these little guys. Very portable, and sound great.

I just bought an 8 ohm LDS 15/6/1 and used it with my V4BH. I was impressed with how well that 3015/18sound mid combination works with a tube amp.

Jimmy or Johnk? | I've owned both an 810E and an 410HLF.
The 410hlf was actually, in my opinion, harder to move.

I actually like the tightness of the HLF. The HLF is a start until I find a Berg locally... I'm picking up a USA HLF tomorrow and I'll re-grill it at some point next week. I actually think I'm going to start using it live versus my 810 and just leave my two 810 AV's at home.
Speaking of 810's, I have a USA made I need to sell sitting in my basement and I have a '69 I need to re-tolex
32x10's.

I use it with my SVT and it sounds fantastic. It does a great job filling out a band while remaining tight and punchy. At 50lbs and with built in casters this thing is also incredibly easy to move. |

I'm really against the look of this cab and I really want to stick to 10's, but if I can find someone that carries Genz in MD I'll go check it out .

If you can find one used and have the spare cash I'd really suggest picking it up. They run for about $500 used, which IMHO is pretty cheap considering the quality of these cabs. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
