| for this kind of question, you will get more useful advice if you state what kind of music you are playing, tone goals, volume expectations, what gear are you trying to step up from etc. etc.
one thing I would suggest is stay with a modular concept. So, unless you think you will be rocking an 8x10 on every gig, perhaps consider 2 4x10 cabs. You can use one cab on smaller gigs and rehearsals, then add the other cab when needed.
There are so many super powerful, and very light heads out these days, like Genz, GK, SWR, TC Electronic, its hard to miss them, but you need to know what you want out of your amp. Then again, there is the tubes, hybrid, SS decision too.
Your budget seems very reasonable, particularly if you will consider used gear.
