Looking to Upgrade to my First Head and Cabinet

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings All:

So I feel I'm ready to get my first bass amp head and cabinet, unfortunately I have no idea where to start (Sorry if this is a re-post, searched this forum but no results from a search). Can be used or new but I'm looking for value, I don't have a large sum to work with but prices seem to be all over the place. I looking for something that will give me a real r&b, hip hop, reggae tone. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance

"Large sum" is subjective. How much dinero do have to work with?

As an option, I'd also be looking for nice used rig(head/cab) for around $600.

At that price you will probably get your best bet going used. Any decent amp would be good for r&b hip/hop etc with some tweaking. I suggest combing thru guitar center's used selection forum classifieds and craigslist. If you can find one - a used Acoustic b600/b810 could be about $600 and would do the trick.

Thanks for the information, I assumed used was going to be the best route but unsure what brand would provided the best sound with the greatest flexibility

I would go used with $600. If you do the right deal, you might be able to swing a GB Shuttle 6.0 and GK 212 Neo for what you have to work with.

Yep a used Genz Benz.Shuttle 6 or 3 with a 4 ohm cab-Avatar 2x12, 4x10, or GK similar. Some Hartke LH500 amps can probably be found at that $ too.
