Talking Looking for vintage heads

Sign in to disble this ad
I have recently started on a hunt for vintage bass heads. Currently i am running an Ampeg SVT 3 pro and i know that is the bad one. But this is why i am here. I started looking for the 90's SVT3 buti keep coming up empty, so now i am looking for other heads as well that might fill the tone. I like a lot of high end to get a good slap sound, and i would like to get and amp with an adjustable EQ. If there are any suggestions on where to start that would be great!

What do you not like about the modern day 3 PRO? If you mess around with the settings a bit you can easily get a GREAT slap tone out of it.

I would not call a 90's 3 PRO "vintage". Ampeg SVT from the 70's is more vintage than anything else.

Ya, nothing wrong with the 3 Pro. I used to own one. Don't know much about the 3 NonPro except there are a couple guys on here who have them and like them, and it was only sold by Ampeg for about a year. So I don't know if it's better than the 3 Pro but I always thought it was a good amp.

Wasn't the SVT 3 just 350w & the 3 pro 450w ?? I don't know of any other differences. I'm NO expert on them tho.
Ain't nothing wrong with the 3 pro afaik tho. There's a reason it's still being made by Ampeg.

I have nothing really against my pro i have gotten some really good driving sounds from it because i have messed with the eq A LOT. Im kind of past the thought of getting a regular svt 3. I am just having a hard time finding another older bass head with a decent EQ.
