I love mine; it's beastly loud, brutally low and crystal clear.

I'll bring play it with the band tomorrow for the first time, I'll let you know. |

I believe I read the SL's have and OEM version of that driver and it's a great sounding very lightweight speaker. Otherwise a Basslite for a touch less weight and less upper mids. Should be a sweet box either way!

That's mtngrown's old 1515/66 with the Eminence LFs and 18sounds and a 2x8/5/1 I picked up from a fellow in SF a couple of months ago.
About the 2x8, I've gotta I have been very surprised by the lows coming out of that thing. It makes a killer pairing with the MB 121P for smaller gigs; and also works surprisingly well as a PA speaker - handy!
While I haven't given the 1515/66 the full treatment (that will have to wait until Wed night for practice with the metal band), playing at low volumes tonight it has been a-mazing. You'd think a bulky beast like that would just clobber the notes; but it's actually very articulate and clear from the B0 to the top of the neck. It's slightly smaller than the fEARful 66, which is perfect for me, because, believe it or not, this cab fits in the back of my Saturn 4-door with enough space between it and the seats for a 4-space rack and a hardshell case.
I couldn't ask for more - except for a high-freq driver, 'cause I'm a slap-happy sizzle freak, when I can get away with it. However, I can see how these PA style cabs would not suit many people's tastes. In my search for a one-cab-solution I tried a Berg NV425, which has pretty much the opposite feel of the 66.
Much props to Don for an amazing box, and props to Ron Anchak for the fEARful crossover. Me am happee bass man! Thanks, Pat! |

I was fixated on the head since I already have a 15/6 I know is loud enough; thinking "My gosh that box of TNT will cause an earthquake with that speaker."

One heck of a talented young player. It was fun to listen to Elliot work the cab over in my garage |
