Low response frequencies?

Sign in to disble this ad
What Bass cabs/amps out there have the lowest response frequencies? Is there much out there that is (relatively easily) attainable that is say sub 30hz? The lower the better. I realize that much more power is required for them deep lows.. so pre + slave amp options are also in consideration.

Any help or direction is much appreciated

Thanks for that greenboy, I will be having a thorough read of that later. Upon quick perusal I got some of it but there are aspects beyond me yet .

Just a note on application - I am looking at sub bass frequencies to be used much below B

Since no manufacturers publish SPL charts there's no way of knowing. The only advise you'll get will be purely subjective.

You will be very hard pressed to find any MI cab that is good to 45 Hz @ 0 dB program let alone 30 Hz.

If you want true reproduction of sub-40 Hz you should consider the like of a Bag End Infra. I used a 21" powered cab with an external processor (internal processor is a current option) that let me go down to 13 Hz and the experience was both visceral and awesome.

A rig of this sort is usually best applied to reference, rehearsal or recording purposes. You would need multiple 21's to rise to performance volumes which would be VERY expensive, and unless a venue is meant for such frequencies you can (likely would) cause more sound problems than you'd solve.

If it is a standard B you are trying to build out for any rig that is solid at 60 Hz will serve you extremely well - the waterfall plot thread GB links to is the best explanation to this statement.
