Has anyone tried both of these?

I'm looking for something small for practicing at home. I live in Japan, and need something that won't annoy my neighbors. I have a Sansamp DI and Guitar Rig 3 for recording, so this is mainly so I can just plug into something quickly and experiment with different ideas. I have a Fender P-bass and mainly dig tones like the Meters, the JBs, Stax, and old dub/reggae.

Is there a big difference in tone between these two models? I like the features on the Cube, and have a Cube 30x guitar amp that I really like, so I'm leaning towards that, but the Line 6 obviously has the bigger speaker. For me, tone is more important than volume, because I will never be able to crank it. If I'm not using the power attenuator on my Cube 30x I can only play at like 2.

The RX I tried sounded like poop, but I didn't have much time to mess with it...I'm not really into the L6, either, but it was miles above the RX in sounding like a real amp at low volume. Why don't you just plug into your computer and use your software modeler, maybe with headphones...???

PS - I always recommend the Acoustic B20 for what you're looking to do with it...if you can find them there...

Roland will be shipping the new Bass Cube XL series soon. You could get a 20w version.

Thanks I'll check the 20xl. I didn't realize they updated the bass lineup.
