M6 combo(2x12) vs head and cab combo, any thoughts

I am on the fence here. The combo is a better price break then getting the two separately. It is a little more to handle weight etc as one piece. I like the 2 x 12 sound and most likely will not need anymore than the combo for any gigs I am doing. Am I missing something by not getting separate head and cab?

Those 2x12 mesa combo's are awesome, and if you're 100% sure you'd never need to "add on" any additional spkrs, go for it. I think I'd rather have the head, and a pair of Powerhouse 212's for a modular set up, but only you know if that works for you. I will say this though, the M6 is capable of more juice than the 212 combo can handle, so there will be some limitations, but it sure will be loud before it runs out of steam.

I have played that combo and really loved it. I have a SWR Silverado Special which is similar to that amp being 2x12 and a powerful amplifier. I use it at most club gigs and have even used it in a casino showroom. An extension speaker will help for larger venues which i have tried but don't have a 4 ohm cabinet so the extension cabs i have don;t help a bunch.
it is a back breaker loading that amp into the back of my suburban... but that aside, I love the tone and power of that amp.

The M6 head is 2 ohm ready.
I'm not sure if the combo is 8 or 4 ohms, but in either case, an extension cab should be viable.

Also, all indications are that it's fairly easy to remove the amp form the combo if you so desire. Seems to me that if you like the sound of the Mesa 212 and don't mind the weight, the combo is the best of all worlds.

Thanks for the input.

I know loading unloading will be a bitch but the combo is not too much heavier than the 2x12 ph cab.

I have the M6/212 combo. The only time it's a pain is if you encounter a lot of stairs. The dolly form really makes it surprisingly easy to schlep.
