Major Loss!

I just dumped my GK SBXII+ 4x10 cab out of the back of my pickup on the way to practice. F!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tailgate failure.

Please give me your advice. I run a 1001RBII amp w/ a fender p-bass. I want to take advange of the bi-amp capabilities of the RBII head, and I really enjoy the wet plunky full range of the Speakon 4 conductor cable.

Dudes!!! Help. I'll dish out for the sound, but want your advise on a new better cab!

I don't bi-amp mine, but my GK 700RB-II sounds huge in my Epifani UL410. I use a P-Bass with flatwounds mainly.

better cab? no cab will take falling out of the back of a truck at 60 mph.

really, it's going to be tough to find any other cab that uses the biamp feature like the gk. as a matter of fact, i don't know of any besides gk.

Stick with gk. Get a 212 or 410 neo and call it done.

On the way to practice, so you didn't even get to practice. This is way the F Flat out there in sad failure modes. I'd stick with the features you want and that limits your choices. BOB

Bag End makes claims that their cabs can take such abuse (in fact, that's one of the reasons i bought mine)

But to the OP, only GK cabs will have the bi-amp feature. If you just want a rock solid 4x10 i'd say Bergantino

If your speakers / wiring is still intact, buy the cheapest, decent unloaded cab you can find.

so you drive around with a tailgate that won't latch, too?

sorry trev, but i totally don't believe that any cab could take falling out of a moving vehicle at 60 mph. i demand that you go try it right now and videotape it.

I believe my 810 could fall out of a moving vehicle at 60 mph. If it survived the fall, it'd just skid for a minute. It would still look the same.

I'm a little foggy on what happened. Did the cabinet spontaneously combust? Is it lying in the ditch right now? Did you go back and pick it up?

He couldn't. He was late for practice.

Instead of looking for a cabinet that can handle a falling out of a moving vehicle, you could just drop $5 on a tie down strap and leave the tailgate open to get better gas mileage.

+1 Of the two, I slightly prefer the Neo212-II as a stand alone (but I like the Neo212/410 combo better than two of the same). That Neo212-II is a phenomenal cab, and IME/IMHO, it can compete with (or even surpass) cabs that both cost and weigh a lot more.

Imagine seening an 810 shoot down the interstate like a torpedo. Amusing yet scary.

Bag End's website, in the "satisfied customers" section, has a story about a band whose back van doors flew open, with everything spilling out, including the bassist's two BE cabs. pretty much everything got destroyed except those cabs. and there were pictures too! granted, the cabs were scratched and beaten, but still working.

and i know mine is solid because i schlep it hard, and it hasn't whined once.
no, i'm not gunna test the "60mph" theory, sorry.
All i'm saying is that i heartily believe that Bag End makes the sturdiest cabs in the business, and they'll take more abuse than any other brand.

(i'll try and find those pics of the roadrashed cabs, btw)

Why limit your choices by wanting to bi-amp. It's an obsolete concept for bass. Any decent full range cabinet should fit your bill and there are so many out there. Go forth and try some.

A friend lost a kayak from top of his car. It passed him traveling on the grass in the median.
