Making a +1/-1 connection with a 4 core cable

Sign in to disble this ad
I want a heavy gauge speaker cable, and I have some spare 4-core laying around.

Like the title said, I am thinking of making the speaker cable using the spare 4-core. Basically twisting the +1 and +2 together, and same for the -1,-2. Will be using speakon connectors.

Would there be any ill effect?
What about if there were TWO 2-core cables, instead of ONE 4-core?

If it works, what would be the effective gauge of the new cable? Assuming the 4-core were 18G.

That will work just fine, I did the same with some Audioquest 4 core cable years ago and they are still going strong.

I think 2 18 awg stranded cables end up being about 15 awg when used together...
