MARBASS LMIII VS F1

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a Little Mark III and going to use a 4x10 Mark Bass cab to set up at Church, But Iam also looking for another head to run with a 2x10 Bark Cab to use in a blues band / Jazz band as well..I am looking hard at the MarkBass F1....Is their much difference in sound or is one better than the other.

Love them both... definitely a bit different. If you have the bucks, the F500 is the F1 with a better feature set.

I just got my F1 fears hours ago! I changed from LMIII to F1 and I think I made the right decision..

I could say that LMII/LMIII sounds more vintagey and the F1 has the modern bite into it I love both but I like F1 better and it suits my style..

Hey their Infidelity,,I bought the Mark Bass III from you,First of all I want to say thanks for the fast shipping, I dont have it yet but can not wait.
Well like I said here is the deal for church iam looking for somthing punchy and tight, for the blues/Jazz band more like smoother sound, Maybe after playing the MBIII I will end up getting another.Anyways iam excited about getting the MBhead.

Look at one of the previous posts by Ken Jung. He put a link in there for you.
Ken's got a series (just like Ken Burns :-)) of videos A-B ing different cabs and heads.
In a couple vids he compares the LMII to the F1. I bought my F1 based on Ken's video and a trip down to Guitar Center to confirm what I had heard in Ken's videos.
I prefer the F1 to the LMII. It has a tighter sound and handles high volumes better. The LMII sound was better for rock IMO. THe F1 has a tightness that lends itself to a finger funk vibe, if that makes sense. LMII is open and F1 is tighter but with ample bottom and top.
I play R&B and jazz as well and the amp gives a very punchy and warm sound. Super great amp IMO all around. It even sounds good on upright. I also agree with Ken to get the F500 instead because of it's parametric EQ.

I agree with FunkyThumb but I think the LMIII is more suitable for jazz because of the smoothness of that head..
