Marcus Miller Golight - Reviews? Comments?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone,

I'm really interested in this cabinet and would love to hear any reviews, comparisons, or general feedback on how the Marcus Miller Cab performs in live settings. I had a Goliath Sr. for several years and recently sold it because of the weight. I know that sealed cabs are supposedly "punchier" than ported which is what i'm looking for in a cab... Serious definition no matter where you're standing on stage.

Thanks!!!!

First of all, the term "punch" has been used for so many different sounds in this forum that it may not mean the same thing to every reader.

I heard Marcus Miller live 2 days ago with his SWR rig (I assume they were GoLight cabs - two of 4x10") and it sounded great. You could feel the "punch" in your chest. If you are looking for slap/fingerfunk tones, similar what you will hear on RHCP recordings, I am pretty sure you will get them with this cab. Not the best sound for jazz obviously.

And if you want same sound no matter where you are on the stage, go for two vertical 2x10" cabinets. Larger cones make the sound to vary more in front and on the side of cabinets. If you have 4x10" cab, there are two 10" cones side by side which means the sound variation (dispersion) will be similar to cone size of 21".
