Mark Bass Randy Jackson TTE500
Hi All. I've read a number of threads about this amp already. I bought one on line, from a dealer on the other side of Australia, back in April. I have clocked up about 10 hours in my home studio and I really like the sound into 10s + horn. The 4A power fuse blew 2 nights back (no noise, no smoke) and so did two replacements so I am about to test the warranty service here in Australia. I will let everyone know how I get on. Fortunately as an old bass player from the 60s I have a number of amps and cabs (and far too many basses) but it does illustrate that with switch mode power supplies there is no chance of a quick repair on the road and after post warranty failures, you may just have to throw your expensive amp away like your flat screen TV. My Orange Bass Terror 500 SMPS died and was eventually replaced by the importer (not the retailer; Kosmic Sound, Perth; who was nothing short of rude and dismissive) after much argument, trauma and threats of going to the ombudsman. My Ampeg SVT3PRO soldiers on come what may.
