What would you choose? Both are within my price range used. I already tried out the markbass 1x15 and loved it! But i also love Mesa stuff too. I have a MM Stingray Classic. I already have the head picked out. I'm looking for something that will give me a big bottom end, hence the 1x15 options. Opinions?

Any second someone will post how much better a 2 10 cabinet will provide a bigger bottom end.
Don't believe them. |

Walking into a gig with a Mesa rig will hold your place in high standing with other musicians as opposed to the Mark Bass generic rig... I hate to sound like a gear snob, but musicians really do care about the gear on a back line and how it sounds and how it looks... That's why this thread is going on...I can't live with the bumble bee yellow color scheme on stage that Mark Bass uses... They really "bug" me esthetically.... The Mesa Boogie cabinet is hand built in the U.S.A. and supports American workers...
My ears tell me the Mesa cabinet sounds so much better, that they are in a differnt league than the Mark Bass Caninet... Just my thoughts!!!

Mesa will destroy anything it hits or that hits it.
Mesa has no rat fur/carpet, no hairy cabinets. Big Huge plus if you have a dog or cat.
Mesa has crossover options.
Mesa sounds best with Mesa amp.
Get the Mesa. |

| | | | I owned a Markbass 115 briefly that i aquired in a trade and was actually shocked at how bad it sounded. It seemed well made and was lightweight but the horn was absolutely terrible and the cab sounded muddy and dull no matter what I did with it. This was an older model.
I recently owned a pair of Mesa Powerhouse 115 cabs and am regretting having parted with them. They were loud deep punchy and clear without a hint of gank or boxiness that many 115 cabs suffer from. I only sold them because at 80 pounds each, they were not fun to lift in and out of the car. Fantastic cabs though!

I own a few different cabs (SWR, Eden, Aguilar, etc) but my Carvin 4X12 is my favorite. Carvin makes really great stuff in my opinion. Honestly I would go with something with 12s in it. I used to do the classic 4X10 paired with a 1X15 and it was great. But then my dad showed me the 4X12 and am addicted to them. Great bottom end and still retains the highs. Best of both worlds.

My ears tell me the Mesa cabinet sounds so much better, that they are in a differnt league than the Mark Bass Caninet... Just my thoughts!!! | I get compliments all the time about my Markbass stuff's sound AND appearance. But, I'm not worried about what anyone thinks anyway. I like the sound and look myself.
The 151p cab is quite capable. I've been gigging with mine for a few months now along with my Little Mark head. It can carry the lows even though it may be tuned a little more mi-rangey than some other cabs. I just eq it right. The speaker is robust and will handle some pretty high volume without farting out. Just this past Saturday I was amazed at the good sound I had with this rig at a fairly loud gig. The other thing is that the cab is the lightest thing I could find that also was built with this grade of quality. It's worth what I have in it, to me at age 61 and saving my back like this.
As for the tweeter, I don't really use it since I'm playing flats and going for the old-school sound. But, the cab can do a pretty good job of putting out some highs and high mids without the tweeter anyway.
Mesa is good, too. But don't underestimate Markbass. I wish they were made in America, but I can't help that. It was the product I needed for my situation. I am very happy.

I have an Accugroove Tri 115L coming in a few months.. I currently am using 212s .. but I always wanted a 115.. I will probably sell the one I like the least.. I think I remember seeing one in the classifieds for $600 ... I was disappointed in the MkBass as well.. I thought it would sound better than it did but perhaps the one I heard was either not set right EQ wise or just a bad cab.. |

I have always used Mesa cabs and give them high praise.
I recently switched to Avatar cabs because they weigh less and in my opinion sound nearly as good as Mesa. |

| | | | new Markbass has a new Randy Jackson 115 model that looks cool, especially with the new Randy Jackson head. It likely has it's own sound so you should audition it first if considering a Markbass.
I kind of like the MB look, although I don’t like more or less than some competitors cabs. Mesa’s look like they’re built to last (which they are). Two different sounds though, both of them good but different. If you like the sound of MB cabs it’s a no-brainer. If you like the sound of the Mesa then it’s a matter of liking enough to haul the extra weight. I like them both but for the style of music I play (rock) I would probably go for the Mesa. For more melodic players who play chords, fretless, etc…, the Markbass amps really work well. There’s an even-ness about them, almost slightly compressed tone which smooth’s things out. The Mesa’s come alive with ripping tone when you crank them up, which is appealing to rock players who attack the strings. |

| | | Shoot me, but I always thought the Markbass stuff sounds like it was made by Fisher Price. Thin, tinny, watery, and no ass end at all. And the "Big Bird" motif just seals it for me. |

Never been a fan of Markbass cabs.
To me, they are not up to snuff compared to there heads.
Mesa are heavy, in both tone and weight.
For a single 1x15 cab I would go with a Schrouder 15L, or an Orange OBC 15. TJM |

Don't believe them. | OK - I'll be that Guy today
Ever heard - or checked-out the specs on the Eden D210XST - they have big bottom end, power handling and 20" of cone versus 15". |
