Hey all,
I have a MB LM800 Tube Preamp amp head. I have been wondering how you tote yours around. I was thinking of getting a bass gig bag with the laptop pocket on the outside to use to carry my amp head with my bass.
Does anyone carry around their LM 500 or LM 800 amp head around in their bass gig bag? I think both are the same size. I was looking online to see what might fit the amp head.
So, in ending I am looking for a gig bag to carry my bass and my amp head in.
I was looking at... http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...Bag?sku=541312 http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...Bag?sku=712695 http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-WOR-BDX22
Any suggestions or thoughts...

| | | | That head is a bit large to carry in a bass gig bag, especially given that you would need to carry all the cables, extension cords, speaker cables, etc. in the gig bag along with all your bass stuff.
That being said, if you want to do it, the iGig bag has a large 'amp' pocket along with a separate pocket for cables, etc. Nice bag, not cheap... heavy once you get all that stuff in there.
The F500 and F1 would fit in the laptop pocket of, for example, the SAdowsky bag, but the LM series is too large. |

Really, all I have/need to carry at the moment is a cable to the bass, I have a 10 food Speakon cable and a tuner. That is about all I need this thing to carry. Just looking for something to fit the LM800. I didn't think of them being a lot bigger than the F1. All of these amps seem tiny to me, which is cool. Thanks again.

But like KJung says it's a bit more pricey than other bags.

Thanks again. | The F1 is about an inch 'shorter' than the LM series (the F1 is true 'single rack space' height, the LM series is 'almost' 2 rack space height.. which can make a big difference regarding fitting in the pouch of a gig bag). The footprint is the same (about 9 by 10 or so). |

I don't think the edges of the amp will be very friendly to the nylon, given that compartment size relative to amp dimensions will be tight...also, the front control knobs may be at risk due to their protrusion.
Personally, I'm slightly miffed at the unrealistic retail cost that MB bags are being offered at through my local music retailer ($100), and am on the lookout for a more reasonably priced, padded computer/laptop style bag for my LMT 800.

It has room for all my cables , a strap to wear , and all the tools I would need . It took the place of a nice leather duffel gig bag I had for years .The laptop bag is easier to haul than my old bag , has a well padded compartment for the laptop that the LMII fits in easily and has good protection for everything . It's like going to the gig or jam without the head . I got mine at Wal Mart and it was only about $45.

You won't believe how hard it is to get a Markbass serviced in the US. I love the thing but their small size and fragility are a dangerous combo. I would recommend racking it.
Can't get it fixed as of now. Markbass said to call GC. That's a dead end. On to something a little more durable.
Anyway, this is a great topic. Give the subject some thought. |

| | | +1 for racking. My LMIII's light weight and size just scares me. When I got mine in a trade it came with the ears and a gator case. I added velcro to the bottom of the gator case (because I was afraid I'd accidently lean on it thinking it was one of my older heavier heads and I'd push it off the top of my cab) and now it sits securely atop my hartke 2/10 cab. I don't have to worry about a tripped over cord dragging it into a fatal fall or zipper breaking in a gig bag ect. Although, I do wish someone would make a smaller rack case (just a little wider than the MB but the same height and depth of the gator), that I could still velcro to my cab.
