I've owned a LMII for a couple of years now and have gigged it fairly consistently. Sounds great (to my ears, at least), no issues. The fan starts up pretty much when I turn the amp on.
Two weeks ago, I bought one of the small 12" combo amps (CMD 121P) used from an out-of-state GC via their website. I've played thru it 3-4 times and the fan has yet to come on. I played it for an hour or so last week with an extension cab (8 ohm) and the face of the amp got too hot to touch. The fan never came on. I can't see this being a good thing, long-term.
My question: have any of you MB owners had any trouble with the cooling fan, or any related issue? I like the little combo amp, but don't want to keep it if there's potential for trouble. |

I've owned a LMII for a few yrs now & nver had a prob w/ the fan. U R right tho CANNOT be a good thing- in fact the opposite. Good thing tho- SHOULD be an aesy fix. The fans in most amps are pretty generic & as long as the voltages etc (err.... specs)are matched pretty much any fan that fits will serve(I could be wrong. & I'm certainly NO elecs expert!!! but thats IME) I've used Old PC fans B4 with fine results. But If I were U, I'd get it done ASAP!!! Def don't want 'em overheating!! Goodluck

So, I opened it up; it turns out, the fan plugs in to a PC board, AND was unplugged! Plugged it in and the fan runs fine!
Many thanks! |
