Markbass club 102 or Berg AE210

Which one should I get? I have an hs410, ht112, ae112, but I'm looking for a lightweight 210 that sounds good and possibly can work with an upright. The markbass is under 30lbs, and that is really appealing. Any one have a suggestion or input on the tone of these two?

Markbass is updating their website, given the message I get when I try to access it. Therefore, I can't verify which tweeter the club cab is using. If it is listed as 'compression driver', then that is a viable option, and will be deeper and wider than the AE210 tonewise. If this particular cab uses the piezo tweeter, IMO, avoid it.

The AE210 is beautiful sounding, but not sure how much more that will give you versus the AE112 you already have... a bit more punch, a bit more volume, but probably not worth it. I'd get another AE112 and sell everything else

Ok Ken, so I'm opening up my options. My goal is a lightweight cab with similar tone goals as you. I don't want to carry around my hs410 to these smaller gigs that have PA support and don't need a 410. Most of the time a 210 or even a loud 112 will cover the gigs just fine (pop band, drummer isn't too loud) Like I said, tone goals very similar to yours Ken, I like to turn up the lows on the sadowsky up just to where the white line becomes visible if that makes any sense to you, and push the LM2 lows to about 1 pm with basically any cab I use, ae112, ht112, hs410, swr goliath jr, raezers edge 112. So my question is, I'm looking at ae112, ht112er, audiokenisis 112, ae210, and the markbass because its so darn light. I want something that wont be muddy, nice mids, and has some punch. Your expertise is appreciated! Thanks

I hear a bit of the HS410 in my Audiokinesis TC112.... round, punchy lows that are not overextended down low, smooth upper mids, and a nice but relaxed upper treble extension. And, it sounds killer with the LMII. It takes a lot of power (you have to turn the master up on the LMII a lot more than with, for example the AE112, but it will put out a much more forceful, non compressed low end when pushed. Highly recommended. I have quite a few clips of the Thunderchild on my Youtube channel, and with a good playback system or headphones, the clips are pretty accurate.

I was able to do an extended tryout of an HT112ER a while back. I put a clip up of the ER also... VERY impressive, with a low end similar to the Thunderchild, but a more hi fi treble response, and of course, about 8 pounds heavier. Very smooth, articulate cab with surprising low end. Great stand-alone 112, just like the Thunderchild, and both would outperform the very nice AE112 in terms of low end projection on a gig.

Either of those are killer. The Thunderchild is unique in the market, and I really, really dig it (and just like Jim Bergantino, Duke is a class act and is great to do business with). Duke is coming out with the 15" version in a few months, and I have one of those on pre-order to see if that will handle my larger gigs.

IMO there. The Thunderchild is much more relaxed up top than the AE112, but it is just a great matchup with the LMII/III and F1/500 to achieve a surprisingly loud and full stand-alone small rig!

Ken, your advice to me was to go for the compression driver so I went for the Club cabs - as well as the non-furry covering and lighter weight. I'm pleased with them. Thanks for the advice!

Cool! Those are very nice boxes, and the higher end tweeter sounds very nice, and seems quite reliable versus the piezo's used in some of the cabs. Enjoy!!!!!
