Markbass CMD 151P Jeff Berlin

Guys,

I am thinking about getting this combo. I already have a Markbass 151HR cabinet. I was thinking that the combo would great for practice, lessons and lower volume gigs. If I ever needed more I could add the 151HR underneath. The speakers look the same to me. Of course the cabinets are very different in size. How do you think they would sound together?

Like a match made in heaven. 500 watts, and a 2 15, pure joy.

JFN,

Tempting. I need to shuffle out some gear first to make it happen, however.

Although Berlin is a stud Bass player, I don't think I would want anything with his name on it. I guess it's the feathered hair and Ron Jeremy moustache. LOL

I guess I don't care too much about that stuff. No one else will probably notice or if they do, will know who he is (or what he looks like).

If it ever bothers me too much I'm sure it comes off. Along with the Markbass logo on the speaker as well. Actually the logo is much more annoying to my eye than the signature.

The cabs are different in size and design, which could have a negative effect on your current cab, but possibly not. I like your cab better than the Berlin, though. I think the Berlin is just a little too tight sounding for my tastes. I've come to the conclusion that Markbass combo cabs could stand to be made larger.

I already took off the Jeff Berlin signature logo. I like Jeff fine, I just didn't want his name on my amp. It is stuck on with adhesive and came right off (can be put back on if you want). The Markbass logo can be removed as well. I didn't remove it from the Berlin, but did remove it from a used Traveler 102P I picked up as I thought was too big and obtrusive on that small cab.

Jimmy makes a point about the different cab sizes. As luck would have it, I just scored a used Markbass 151HR cab from the local GC for $200. Didn't really need it, but hey, it was there and was only 200. I can try it with the Berlin and see how it sounds. If you're ever heading up around Indianapolis, you could stop by and check out the Berlin hooked up with my 151HR cab.

I wouldn't mind his name, as long as I didn't get his tone. Wouldn't mind his chops though.

There is a matching 15 inch cabinet for the CMD151P and the Berlin version, New York 151.

I dig that little combo! I've played a few and each time nearly come away buying one.

Lately however I'm being tempted by the Hartke Hydrive 15" for half the price of the Berlin.

Me too. Is the Bass Attack Distortion on it good enough to not make an external pedal a must ?

Not to me it's not. I went back to SA and tried it today and found that distortion very irritating, even with the tweeter off.

Is this New York 151 available yet? I'm keen on matching one up with a Berlin myself.

I dont mindn the JB name on the combo.. the 'mo' etc would worry me a little tho tbh. so if it COULD come of... hmmmmm?!!!!???!!!
I got a STD151HR a few weeks ago- brand spankin new- NOT $200 tho DArn it... With the AUSSIE $$$ & prices -from Gov. duties etc... was 5 x that. But as I offloaded a non-neo 1x15" I virtually got it 4 nix. Seems to be a nice 1x15" & is amazingly nice being able to lift it w/ ONE HAND!!!!! NEVER had that B4- in my 30+yrs of gigging!!!!!

151 New York Cabinet

The 151 New York cabinet appeared on the Mark Bass website about a week ago, so I guess they would at least have it ready to ship to their distributors. As for stores ordering stock or having any, better check locally.

So is it the same size as their Berlin cab?

I actually pulled the trigger on a CMD151P 2 weeks ago but will have to wait until the end of the month. Now JB's 'mo' reminded me of the rat fur on all the cabinets, cleaning carpeted cabinets is one thing I do not want to spend time on. Without a concrete eta I did not put any money down. I could end up with the Fender Bassman TV 15 combo, all power into the combo, no extension cabinets, done, simple, Fender should get it to sound good, hope that gain control drives the tube into nice distortion. Hartke Hydrive 115C is on my list too but that's another confirmed fail for the distortion feature and I don't care much for the eq with only bass and trebble, where is the mid, oh I use the 7 band eq, so I can turn up the bass knob anjust the same frequencies on the eq, too much. The shape control is good so I can turn down the low's but then I want to bump up the mids and they don't give me a knob all on it's own for that. Guess they got it all sorted out in the LH500, but no 15 inch combo version. Kickback 15 looks better and is on my list too.

The 151 New York is the same size as the CMD151P, The Berlin is a few inches taller than the CMD151P and 151 New York because of where the amp is. I guess what you are asking is will they stack together and look a match, yes. Dimensions are on the Mark Bass website.

Yeah that's what I was wondering, thanks.
