Markbass CMD 151P vs CMD 102P

I've seen a lot of positive reviews on both the Markbass CMD151P and on the CMD102P. Both are easy-to-transport, high-end amps.

In the near future, I want to 'testdrive' both these amps, but since I haven't had the opportunity to do so, I would like to know if anyone has played both amps. If so, what is the difference in sound(quality)? Could a separate traveller cabinet + mark III amp maybe a better option?

I play bass in a 'hiphop'-type group (a mixture between electronic beats and live instruments such as sax and bass) and I would like to use the amp in most pop/soul/jazz-settings. Rock is not really my cup of tea, I'm not looking for the Ampeg SVT-sound. Currently I'm playing a Fender Jazzbass and a yamaha fretless.

Thanks for your reactions!

I've tried both and prefer the 151P because the 102P seems more midrange focused whereas the 151P is meatier in the lows and has a bit more balanced sound to me. IMO, the 151P gets louder too and is easier to carry.

I think I may try using a 102P to satisfy my mid range needs, and a 151P to satisfy my lows! Although I might go with the HF series.

I own the 102P and had the choice between the both. I felt that the 151P did not have the full range that can be dialed in on the 102P. I play metal mainly, but do have some jazz sessions where this really shines. In your situation, this should be as equally awesome in my opinion. When I get my Avatar 2x12 at 8 Ohms, this thing is going to be a beast.

Have fun when you get a chance to test drive these. Let us know in the MB club forum also. You may get more responses there.

Cheers!
