Hey all, new to this Forum, and i love it already, i have a question for the MB experts, this will help me as im hoping to pick up my MB this weekend , here goes, if you use the 121 with its 12" extension cab can you also plug in another extension ie 2x10s ( so in essence i will have 2 12 in cabs and a 2x10 cab in total) how will it change the impedence if any and will it sap the power of the amp?
and lastly can i do this without modifying the amp or extension cab
thanks everyone |

thanks everyone | Basically, you can't do this. Markbass heads can be run at a minimum of 4 Ohms, and assuming all 8 Ohm cabinets here, you will have an impedance of 2.67 Ohms. The head will not survive this. The cabinets could be modified to be linked in series in order to increase the impedance, but frankly, I think this would be a waste of time.
With the 2 x 12 configuration, you will be plenty loud, believe me.

My feeling is that you will still be louder at rehearsal/on stage than you think, if your experience is playing in-store, but if that isn't the case, you may be better off going with the separate LM III head (or whatever other one tickles you) and finding some efficient cabinets to go with it.

| | Almost famous since 1974. | | Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Austin, Texas | | | I play in a LOUD band. No problems hearing myself with the Markbass CMD 102P tilted back - besides the sound that I loved, this was one of the reasons I wanted this combo, tilt back design. Volume and gain at around 10ish. While I don't think the 121 will be quite as loud as a 2x10, it is rated the same 300/500. I was concerned about gigging with a combo (came from a GK 1001RBII and an 8x10 cab). The CMD 102P has had more than enough so far.

A number of users have commented in various threads on these combos really coming into their own once they're out in the field, as it were. Definitely tilt the combo back on top of the extension so the mid-to-high frequencies are directed earwards, and I'm positive you'll be pleased with the result.
