Markbass dual input epiphany

Sign in to disble this ad
I've had my CMD121P combo for 3-4 years now. The whole time, I've been doubling between bass guitar and EUB, physically switching out instrument cables between songs. That made for some exciting changeovers (e.g. pulling on a cable and knocking over a mic stand, bird nests, etc)...the whole time, lamenting replacing my old 2-input Walter Woods with the Markbass.

It recently dawned on me that the XLR dealio on the front panel had the word "input" next to it. One XLR-1/4" adapter later and I'm once again enjoying the benefits of a two input amp!

And to save anyone the trouble

Ha Ha!

I need to get my upright in playing shape again so I can utilise that XLR input myself.

And, the new LMT models have a separate volume control for that XLR input, and the XLR input is a combo jack, which allows for 1/4" or XLR input. In addition, the XLR input has switchable phantom power for use with a microphone for DB.

Well, the combo jack would've saved me the $10 for the adapter...I have the combo jack on the "balanced out", I wonder why they didn't use one on the input.

I have the same amp and use the XLR for my acousitc/electric bass guitar. I plug it into a passive DI box and use a 3 foot xlr cable from the DI to the amp input. I plug my Jazz bass into the 1/4" input and can keep both plugged in at all times. I just turn the volumes to zero when playing the other bass.....
