Markbass F1 vs. Little Mark III

What is the difference between the F1 and the Little Mark III besides the size? The F1 is priced higher but the output is the same. Any tonal differences? Thanks

lmiii sounds more like what i hear in tube amps whereas the f1 sounds like a solid state amp.

I've done about a zillion gigs on both of these amps. The LMII/III is rather unusual for a micro head in that it uses a more traditional, larger class A/B power amp (like Thunderfunk, Eden, etc., etc.). The F1 and F500 use a class D power amp like virtually all of the other micro's, which results in smaller size at the same output.

The front end of each amp is the same... identical controls (the LMII/F1 have identical front ends... the newer LMIII adds a more fully featured DI with a level control, like the F500). The tone is quite different though. As my buddy JimmyM points out above, the LMII/III is a bit fatter, warmer, a bit less aggressive, and has just a smidge of 'give' to the feel, resulting in some describing this head as having a 'clean tube-like tone'.

The F1, and its more fully featured brother, the F500 (same sound as the F1, more features... KILLER head and my primary gigging head) is punchier in the low mids, a bit more aggressive up top, and noticably louder when pushed.

Here is a clip I did a while ago comparing the two directly:

The Markbass 800 series of amps have yet another voicing... bigger, wider, much brighter up top... not really my thing.

I am! That is my old buddy 'Twix'. He's going on 17 now, and still is healthy and happy, if a little thin these days! Thanks!
