Markbass Jeff Berlin combo/ext. speaker advice...

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a Markbass Jerff Berlin combo to take to a church gig that I play every Sunday. I really like the combo.

I also own a Fender/SWR rig that I use for my practice room and for some occasional gigs.

I'm a guitarist and use the bass rig for our bassist so he doesn't have to lug his gear for rehearsals. Once in awhile I play bass for other bands.

I plugged the Markbass into the 4x12 Goliath cab and that rig sounds incredible. Now I'm thinking of selling the entire Fender/SWR rig and getting an extension cab for the Markbass combo and I think that's all the bass rig I would ever need. I'm thinking of the matching New York 151 cab or a Markbass 2x10 cab.

My question is, which would you prefer? I'm thinking that the 151 cab would sound great, but be more of the same and that a 2x10 cab would add a different dimension to the rig. If you would prefer the 2x10, would you recommend the standard or the smaller 2x10?

Thanks guys!

get the matching New York 151 cab . if you like a cab, it will sound best with another matched cab.

It is always better to mach cabs, so the NY 151 should be the way!

Hey GAT... are you the same GAT on TGP? I always read and consider your posts with intrest and respect.
I can't really speak to your question since I am not a MB guy. I am however a fulltime bassist and agree with suggestion to match cabs. Kinda can't go wrong there.

Ya, we're big matched cab folks around here. Mixed rigs can work, but you really don't know how cabs are going to work together except you know matched cabs will give you uniform results. Having said that, there are many who run mixed rigs and are happy with them. That's how it go.
