Markbass LittleMark III vs. Eden wt550

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a chance to check these two heads out. They're both about the same price. MB is from a fellow TB'er, while the Eden is a craigslist sale.

How do they compare, soundwise featurewise, etc?

Before I ordered my LMII, I got to try out the Eden, and to my ears the Eden has a "silkier" sound, whereas the LMII has a more "clinical" sound, which works for me, as I like the character of my Berg cab and my EBMM's to shine thru.

So you decided on the MarkBass? My main bass is a stingray and I've used the Markbass as a loaner for a show and it sounded good but didn't quite get the chance to tweak it.

Supposedly the Eden has more tube-like gain?

I have both. The Eden really shines when you turn it up.

i hate eden and the lmii was the first solid state amp i ever heard that i thought sounded like an ampeg tube amp running clean. not exactly, but closer than i ever heard at the time. and since i judge amps by their ampeg copping abilities, the lmii was the clear winner for me.

Markbass Littlemark III vs. Eden WT-400 Traveler plus

Well the craiglist guy emailed me and said now it's not a st500 but rather a Eden WT-400 traveler plus.

So the same question applies, markbass littlemark III vs. Eden WT-400 traveler plus.

He also said he was selling a trace elliot 4x10 but now he says it's really a 1 15"

My advice to you - since this guy doesn't know what "his" equipment actually is - is to run like hell..

The WT-400 is 4 ohms minimum. I love mine, incredible EQ section and a good "warm" sound. Sounds especially good when cranked a bit.

The LMIII is nice (very small and light, about half the weight of the Eden) but wasn't as much "my sound" if that makes sense. I also missed the massive EQ control of the Eden for cello use.

eden hates you. i know. they called me. just kidding. my backup
head is a WT400. i have & svtII & an edeni was considering MB as well, but
i wanted a variable midrange or parametric eq. i like it,
but it doesn't sound like an svt.

JimmyM every time I read one of your posts I am more impressed w every posting. I have never though of the Ampeg MarkBass match but it is true. I just got my SD1200 and that is how I would describe the sound. It is very much like an Ampeg but SS very warm like an Ampeg and very powerful too.

I own MarkBass LMII and I used to own Eden Navigator (+power amp)

MarkBass: small, light, decent amount of EQ, IMO does not have an instantly recognizable "Mark Bass" sound which is a good thing.

Eden: Relatively small, not as light, a bit more midrange bark, amazing Eden EQ, IMO everything you plug in will have Eden coloration to it (some people like it, some don't, matter of taste).

Try before you buy, Markbass is usually stocked at any GC, with eden bring your own gear to test it. They are both equally capable amps with different flavor to them.
