Markbass LMII... Aguilar, Epi, Eden?

Sign in to disble this ad
Trying to build up a lightweight but powerful rig and purchased a Markbass LMII. Now I need to find the right cabs to go with it. I was thinking two Aguilars (GS112 & GS112NT)... any other suggestions? Epi, Eden, Bergs, DNA?

Also, what do you think about the amp?

I'd be more in for the DB 112's or the SL 112's when you're talking aguilar. But that's just me steering away from anything wit a big hole in the mids.

All of those options seem quite good. What sound are you looking for? Some influences? You only want 12's?

The amp is more than fine considering cost and weight. Do notice that you should start searching for your sound with the filters (VLE and VPF) flat (that means turned all the way left)...

LMII is a solid amp. I love mine.....
I have a Basson B210b and an 8x10e, it sounds great through both. I dont use the fridge often, its just there for special situations. The Basson is a pig of a 2x10, but I love the lows is produces.

My guess is that's the easiest way, since the LMII has only one speaker output...

How about Markbass cabs? I have the CMD 121H combo (LMII inside with 112). The cab sounds marvelous, IMO. I also want the Traveler 112 as an extension.

Yes, I want 12's because of that mid-low freq u get from them. I play latin jazz and Praise & Worship. Used to play through a GK 700rbii and Eden 410xlt but got tired of the 90+lb cab.

I'm not really into the Markbass tone on their cabs but I was actually considering them.

If you like low mids, I'd steer clear from Epifani and Aguilar GS...

Bergantino's AE's are reported to be very strong in the mids, especially high mids. Should also be Berg that's strong in the lower mids, but don't remember which one.

I tested some Agie 112 DB's and these were also very defined in the mids, but they also had this huge lows old school vibe going.

Did you like the sound the XLT gave you?

LMII + Schroeder cabs is a very popular combination. I adore mine.

Loved it with the GK amp. IMO the best sound I've ever heard

The GS 1x12s sounded ok with the LMII, but I found that the Berg 1x12s sounded much better (HT/EX stack). I sold my LMII, but have been using my TA501 (essentially the same amp) with the Bergs for a few years as my main small/medium gig-rig.

I use my LMII with a Epi2x10.

Really nice combination they work together really well. Haven't gigged it yet, have my concerns about volume. I started a thread in this section and got some good responses.

I tried a LM head through an Epifani 1x10 the other day and it sounded great.

does anyone run LM II with an ampeg 810? I'm on the fence about buying a LM wondering if i'll have a volume problem.

IMO, IME the LMII gets along very nicely with the Aguilar GS cabs.
