Markbass LMII With A Eden 210?

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently run a rig that is a Markbass LMII into an Avatar B410 and I love the tone and power, but I really like 12s better than 10s. With this in mind, I have recently been offered a Eden 210 in trade for my Avatar. From the specs, it is nearly as heavy as the Avatar and has 2 less speakers, which is why I am not really moving on it yet.

I am wondering if the LMII would work well with the Eden cab and if that should be enough for most clubs? Does this combination of cab and head work well together? My band plays in small to medium clubs all the time and they DI me at most shows, but we do have a number of big outdoor events coming up soon, so I want to make sure I am making the right choice.

Thanks for your input.

A 210 will never keep up with a 410, no matter what the brand. The tone will be different, the volume much lower. Per your 212 thing, a 4ohm 212 will typically give you about 80% of the volume of a 410 from the same company. Also, be careful about 'liking 12s better than 10's. There is a huge range of tones within each speaker size. Some 10's, like the Epifani 210 and 410, are huge and deep and smooth sounding. Some 12's, like the Genz NC212, are tight and bright and punchy and grindy.

you may still have good tone but you will have roughly half the volume. If you are playing soft or have decent monitors maybe, otherwise not a good idea IME

As a 2x10 user I am of the opinion that you would not be able to do every gig with just one. I always use a pair stacked vertically and it is a good versatile set up with or without PA support.

Thanks guys for the replies. I have passed on the Eden 210 for now as it is heavy and would cost me in overall volume. Having played through a GK 412 Neo before and loved it, I am now thinking it would be cool to get 2 Neo 212s, and to possibly switch back to a more portable GK head. I will keep my mind open as I search for the right sound.

Welcome to the journey that never ends but gets more expensive as you go...

Stump,

How do you like the Markbass with the Berg cab? What head and cab do you play on? Just contemplating if i should just save for a Berg now? Really looking at the AE212.

I have a Berg AE210 on order as we speak. Pretty much just did it on a whim this week. I guess I should have waited before I changed my sig.

I use an F1 head from Markbass right now, I'll shoot you a PM after the AE210 gets here. If I like it, I'll likely add another down the road.
