Question Markbass LMIII/250 question?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I want to buy Markbass LM 250 and i have some questions:
1. Does LM 250 is the same A/B amp as LMIII but with less power?
2. Can I use LMIII/250 like a preamp and how?(Taking signal from LMIII/250 and send to external power amp or another amp, LMIII/250 does'nt have preamp out, but maybe taking signal from effects return?)
3. I play 70' rock and like warm rock tones, but can't buy ampeg SVT-classic or VR they cost too much in our country(2500-3000 dollars) but LM 250 costs 500$
Thanks!

the main difference is going to be that the Markbass LMIII sounds very clean. It has been said before that they sound like an extremely clean tube amp sound.

So... if you dig that ok. If you want dirt, you might be wanting a tube amp or at least a tubish pré like the VT BASS to put in front of the markbass

In that case, it wouldn't be a bad choice in my opinion.

How is LMIII/250 sounds with od pedals? I playing Xotic BB pedal in front of the many SS amps and od sound is very bad to me(( (but in front of the H&K BassBase 400 hybrid and tube amps od sounds amazing)

I agree with stepping up to LMIII, more power and flexibility when you want to use it as an amp instead of a preamp.

LM 250 550$ - LMIII 750$, I don't play large gigs only medium and small, and when i play large gigs i want to use LM 250 DI to PA or use LM 250 like preamp and send signal to local amp.
LM 250, 250 Watts on 4 Oms into 1x15 300 or 400 watt cab + PA support? is that enough for a small and medium size gigs? Does LM 250 cut thru 2 guitars 50W tube combos?

Well... how loud are your guitarists? Its impossible for any of us without hearing you to really give you an exact answer. I would recommend also checking out the LMIII. It has more headroom. I have just sold my LM250 and my main amp is now my LMIII. I rarely play at loud volumes, and the LMIII while not a ton louder, has more headroom, and doesn't run out of gas when I need to crank it up a bit. They are both great sounding amps. Very clear and warm.

An LMIII can get you by forever, for example if you join a louder band in the future, want to drive a 4x10 cab, etc. Or perhaps a used LMII is the answer? Nothing wrong with the one that started it all for Markbass (I still have mine).

Amps are like motorcycles. You get a mid-sized one thinking it's all you'll ever need. Six months later you want a bigger one!
