Markbass LMIII Package Stolen From My Door

Sign in to disble this ad
Last week I ordered an LMIII from Musicians Friend. Of course UPS decided to leave it in front of the door to my apartment. When I got home it wasn't there, which doesn't surprise me since I live in an apartment building with some shady neighbors.

I've called UPS and Musicians Friend and they seem to be cooperative so far. Hopefully at some point I'll get a refund or a replacement.

Have you guys had this happen before? I'm wondering if I should file a police report. I can't prove it was stolen, and since it was gone before I got home, I don't even have the serial number to get it on file as stolen goods. Musicians Friend said they have no way of looking up which serial number was assigned to the amp they sent me.

Report it. Whoever took it has whatever personal information of yours that was on the invoice.

UPS left a Ric 4003 on my front porch- I was at the same time excited to see it, and horrified of the possibilities. You can demand that they send it with a signature required.

Depends on the shipping service. Ground shipping, private delivery companies that may contract with the big names, etc., routinely consider residential deliveries ok to leave at the door unless the paperwork specifies signature required. They don't know or care what's in the box, to them it's just a box.

Years back I had a Zon Legacy Elite that I shipped to Zon for some repair work. Zon was supposed to ship out the bass in a couple of days so, I was expecting it back the end of the following week. When the bass didn't show, I got the tracking number and found that the bass had been listed as delivered. I then went through another week dealing with UPS and still no luck. They finally got hold of the driver who remembered delivering a large package at the house. Apparently, he didn't want to leave it in plain view, so he put it behind some big bushes by the front door.

I went out and checked and sure enough, there is my $4000 bass, that had been sitting outside in the garden for a week and half! I was so pissed off that I actually considered calling UPS back and saying, "Nope, nothing in the bushes". They really deserved it, but I just got this thing about cosmic karma.

Ouch. I recently purchased an LMII on the TB classifieds that was left in the box on my front doorstep. The same thoughts went through my head when I saw it... so I'm sorry to hear you had the "bad scenario" happen. Best of luck.

Ouch. That sucks. Have you checked with some of your neighbors?
I remeber the same thing happening on here recently, and after filing a claim with UPS, a neighbor said that they kept it for them because they didn't want someone to walk off with it.
Slim odds, but maybe worth a shot. Good luck.

I don't know my neighbors at all. But I'm pretty sure it would be one of them that took it. It's not the greatest apartment complex. Shady people... probably a lot of drug deals. The tracking info says it was left at the 'front door', and every package I've gotten that's said that I've found right in front of my apartment door. It's possible they left it at the office and just wrote it down incorrectly, so I can check tomorrow, but it's a long shot. I guess I'll file a report once I make sure it wasn't left there.

I'm sure somehow it'll work out. If UPS doesn't do anything, hopefully MF will, and then I've always got Visa to fall back for a goods not received claim. I just want my amp now. And I'd like to get the person who took it arrested. Some my neighbors really make me feel uncomfortable and it would be nice to know at least one of them is behind bars.

Sorry to here about your misfortune. Hopefully things will balance out in the end. I always ship packages to my work address for that very reason, give the guys in receiving a heads up and they make sure it gets to my desk.

I had the same issue with Fender Jazz 5 stuffed under my porch for a day, I called the music store and said if I wasn't a honest person I could have said I didn't get it, they said they planned to kick UPS in the ass.

Sorry to hear that mremic0, it really sucks!

I do not know if this will make you feel better, but my personal experience with both MF and UPS have been so good so far, I am pretty sure that either one of them will take care of this shortly. I hope you receive your amp as soon as possible.

Cheers,

Alper

I don't get how they still do that in some countries, we're not living in the 50's anymore. There are shady and dishonest people everywhere nowadays. Thank goodness over here the courier services won't leave a package in front of a door even if asked to. It's signature or no package. Should be like that everywhere.

I have experience the same thing you did, but all for the right reason. I had my door bang rang when I was not available. When I went to the door to check what was left behind, there was nothing. I thought it was some solicitor so I didn't care too much. When I went to the driveway to get into my ride; I saw few boxes from Amazon being placed in front of my car. I thought it was very thoughtful of UPS to hid my package from plain view.

I do tech work for UPS and I'm almost positive the driver is not suppose to driver release at an apartment complex even if there's no signature on the package. Your suppose to get an info notice if the delivery attempt was missed. This should be settled between UPS and shipper and you should get a replacment.
