Markbass LMIII + SVT 810?

Sign in to disble this ad
Heh, heh, I wanna try it. I get to play the SVT at practice along with an old V4 head. Super sound. But, I'd like to see what my Little Mark III head sounds like through that cab. It's an older cab, late 60s, early 70s, something like that. It has a metal badge, if that's any clue. It's marked "4 Ohms." So, my LMIII would put 500w through it.

Anyone tried this combination before? Is there any reason to NOT do it?

Those old cabs aren't rated for many watts. Use your ears and you'll be fine. Should sound killer!

Thanks, pal. I'll probably give it a go next Monday. Yeah, I'll certainly be careful. We don't get too loud since we're in a small room.

Sounds like overkill to me and not likely the LM is the right choice.

I don't think that's overkill at all. I drive my 2001 810e with a Peavey Tour 700 and the setup kills.

Oh, this is just for fun. I'm not planning on using the 810 to gig with, it's not even mine. I just wanna see what kind of tone comes out while using the LMIII. It's as much about the amp as it is the cab. Plus, with the VR sitting right there I can compare it to the LMIII. I just wanna know that it's all safe. Should be, but thought I'd get some opinions.
