Has anyone ever tried these before? i tried one at guitar center... worked really well in the bassroom which is pretty small. i couldnt turn it past 3 without being an ass hat. anyone ever play a gig with this? could it work well as a stand alone unit? its a single 12" speaker... makes me wonder......
please share any experience you've had with this as a gigging/practice amp http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend....Amp?sku=481792

I was running mine flat with a touch of the filter on. I had two of the 12 combos and brought them both back to GC because of issues. The first one generated some weird noise even without a bass plugged in. The second one kept shutting off and the speaker was jumping like crazy without even having a bass plugged in. I've got the 2x10 combo now and so far so good. |

I've had the CMD121P for something like 2 1/2 years now and I STILL contend that it's one of the best combos on the market. Light as hell, too!
Hope this helps!!

It's great.
Oh and it's great for the studio, miked. |

Add a second cab like the NYC 121 and you can handle almost any gig. I also owned its big brother, the CMD 151p. If you can handle the extra size, weight, and cost it sounds even bigger and can handle more gigs single-handed.
My only gripe with these combos - the piezo tweeter.

One thing (so far) that somewhat disappoints me, is that there is no tweeter control on the combo (there is one on the ext cab). |

I love using mine for smaller jazz-type gigs. So light and can be very punchy. It needs an ext. cab if you are going to play in a loud setting, but it's great for what it is. |

I purchased mine from fellow TB'er, PhatBasstard (thanks for the good deal), a couple of months ago and it works very well for the small coffeehouse type gigs and rehearsals. I've not tried it in the medium sized venues but I have other rigs for those. I have paired it with my EA NL210 (newest version) in the music room and maybe I'll take it out to a gig one of these days. I also have an Eden 210XLT in the garage to try. So much gear, so little time!!!
I like the portability factor with the 121P and I'd really like to hear it with the NY121 or the NY604. Any opinions ref. the CMD121P with the 604?
To the OP; put the word CMD121P into the "Search" function and you will bring up enough data to keep you reading for hours!
Later, Kirk

Use it for rehearsals and plenty of gigs from 10 piece funk gig to trio gig and fusion gig - plenty of on stage sound and very sweet when you are going into the PA. The two filters are nice for vintage or slap sounds but running it flat is just nice too. |

The secret to using it is to back in into a corner and use the walls of the room as a giant horn. The output will rattle the stage. People have come up looking for my bass stack and flipped out when I showed them the little box in the corner. I have even used it outdoors for smaller gigs and was not disappointed.
For larger gigs I add a Schroeder 1212L cab - TWO more 12s in a 30 lb. cabinet nearly as small as the MB. It is almost too much! The whole "stack" fits neatly in my car trunk.
Can't recommend it enough.

Getting ready to try it with a 112 ext. cab in a couple of weeks in a small-ish room with a blues band that is fairly well behaved volume-wise, so we'll see how that goes. |
