I've used a Markbass 121p mini combo for the past 2 years and have not had any problems. Yes the piezo tweeter can sound hissy in a quiet room but is easily tamed with a touch of VLE. In the practice or gig situation the hiss has never been a concern for me. It just simply can't be heard over all the other noise and there is no need to use the VLE.
A frequent comment on TB is that the Markbass piezo tweeters are subject to failure. I'm just wondering if this is true? Anyone with any info on failure rate of these tweeters vs. other tweeters? Other personal anecdotal information welcome; either positive or negative. Every day it seems someone posts a tweeter problem on TB and it is not limited to anyone brand-are all tweeters subject to failure? Does the tweeter fail from pushing it to its limit; is the crossover the culprit, or is it simply an inherant flaw of the tweeter? I'm certainly no expert on this topic- just wondering. Thanks.
i had one for a year and it held up fine. but i didn't like it, can't deny it. but i tried bypassing it once and it made things worse. if that woofer does more than 2k, i'd be surprised.
